Summary:
Dr. Kirk received his Doctor of Science degree from M.I.T. in 1972. Since then he has taught full time as a Professor of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Maryland in College Park, Maryland until he retired in 1998. In recognition of Dr. Kirk’s 26 years of teaching and research he was awarded the rank of Professor Emeritus of Mechanical Engineering when he retired.
Dr. Kirk was a former vehicle development engineer for Ford Motor Company and was also president of FARE, Inc. a consulting company that he formed in 1988. During his career Dr. Kirk was active in inertial energy storage, mechanical design and manufacturing systems. He has designed and built an emergency stopping system for the U.S. Capitol-House subway system and has served as consultant for NASA, the Architect of the Capitol, Bureau of Mines, RCA, and various government and private attorneys.
Dr. Kirk is the author of 115 technical publications, 7 books and 1 patent. Dr. Kirk has been honored with numerous awards and recognized for his expertise in “Who’s Who in the World”, “Who’s Who in America”, “Who's Who in the East”, “Who's Who in Science and Engineering”, and “Who's Who in Technology.”
